The genotype of the mottled auburn is (bb cmcm ee) for males and (bb cmcm e-) for females: They carry the same (cm) mottling mutant gene of the painted turkey variety and can be produced out of any chocolate painted breeding that is Bb based. The poult color/pattern at hatch is somewhat similar to a typical auburn. The adult color/patterns of the mottled auburn show a slight mottled tail pattern with some frosting effects in the body.
