The genotype is (b'b' DD nn/n-) black-winged bronze based, homozygous for dominant slate with the addition of the Narragansett factor n, homozygous in toms nn and n- hemizygous in hens. The blue-winged lavender narragansett turkey exhibits a light slate-colored body with uneven dilution, a pale reddish-tan tail, and a light-tipped slate-colored band. This is a true-breeding variety with no red gene involved; the reddish-tan tint results from the bronze base expression through the slate color.
